The shutdown followed a rumour that one Indian truck driver Hajindra Singh was killed in Nepali territory yesterday.
A delegation of Sardars from Nautunawa, India, visited Belahiya Area Police Office to confirm the truth behind the rumour. Police handed over Hajindra and the owner of his truck to the delegation team. Later the team returned.
Hajindra was manhandled by fellow truck drivers but the rumour about his death surfaced creating tension around the bordering Sardar village.
Police have been deployed in large numbers at the border today.
