The SLMM protesters, who had been staging a sit-in protest at the Nepal-India border since the past nine days, were removed from their staging area following clashes which has resulted in the resumption of services at the Jogbani border area.
Biratnagar customs office Chief Krishna Bahadur Basnet informed that 13 goods carrier have already entered Nepal until 8 am this morning. He said that other trucks that have remained stranded at the border will also gradually make their way into Nepal throughout the day.
Chief Basnet, however, informed that amongst the 13 vehicles, there are no fuel tankers since they are at the back of the line. He said that the customs office is preparing ways to bring the fuel tankers with special priority.
Earlier, on Sunday, a meeting of the officials at Indian and Nepali customs office had agreed to let the goods carriers and fuel tankers enter Nepal by removing the obstruction.
Meanwhile, Morcha leaders have denounced the use of force by the police at the border point saying that they will obstruct the border entry point after holding internal discussions.
