The government announced a public holiday on Friday on the occasion of Baqar-Eid.

Joint Secretary at Home Ministry Binod KC informed that the ministry decided to announce a public holiday on Friday for the Muslim festival.

During the festival, also known as the Feast of the Sacrifice or the Greater Eid, Muslims sacrifice their domestic animals, typically a cow, sheep or a goat, to commemorates the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to Allah.

During the festival, Muslims are obliged to share food and money with the poor so that they can take part in the celebrations.
