Karmacharya, who has long been advocating for free and better access to blood in Nepal, is among the few persons who has donated blood for more than 100 times.
"I urge all the people in the country to donate blood," said Karmacharya. "It is a gift that you can give to others that can save their life."
The Blood Transfusion Centre (BTC) at Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS), states that there is demand for around 250 to 300 pints of blood while it collects only around 150 to 200 pints daily. The country’s only blood bank many times reels under acute shortage of blood especially during rainy season, festive season when people are not much willing to donate blood.
