Bus swept away by landslide, 3 killed
Three persons are confirmed dead after a passenger bus plunged into Tinau River at Siddhababa along the Butwal-Palpa road section of the Siddhartha Highway on Saturday.
DSP at Dobhan police station Dhirendra Prasad Shrestha informed that the incident occurred along the Butwal-Palpa road section of the Siddhartha Highway this afternoon.
The bodies of the deceased have been recovered from the accident site, police said. Identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained. The death toll may rise as the bus is completely submerged under the water.
Some passengers escaped the incident when they saw the land above the road falling and jumped off the bus.
The bus (Lu 1 Kha 5771) with 26 persons onboard was heading towards Butwal from Palpa when the accident occurred. The Area Police Office, Butwal, said that around 15 passengers were rescued. Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Nepal Army personnel have been mobilised for rescue operation in the site.
