Undivided FW campaigners calls Kailali banda
Public life has been hit hard after supporters of the Akhanda Sudur Paschim campaign enforced an indefinite strike in Kailali district on Friday.Business, Industries, educational institution and vehicular movement in Dhangadi has come to a complete halt as a result of the banda enforced by people calling for an undivided Far West.
Likewise, the strike has affected the local market in Attariya, Lamki and Tikapur of Kailali district. The campaign supporters took to the streets of Attariya chanting slogans.
Akhanda Sudur Paschim campaign supporters in Wednesday organised a torch rally after news of parties’ planning to federate the country into six states by dividing Kailali surfaced on media.
Similarly on Thursday, the campaign supporters took out two rallies, one in the morning and another at 3 pm against the alleged decision. They also organised corner meet at various places. The protesters demanded that all the nine districts of the far-western region should be within a single state.
Supporters of the ‘undivided’ Far West campaign enforced a banda in the region for weeks in 2012 to press the parties not to divide the region while federating the country.
Several parties and organisations are in favour of keeping Kailali whole. Even the indigenous Tharus, though against an undivided Far West, say the district should not be divided.
