NOC is organising a press meet shortly to provide further information about the deferral. Lack of preparations has been blamed for postponement.
However, it has been understood that the election has been deferred after a Supreme Court ruling ordering the committee to hold the election for now following a writ by Nepal Wrestling Association, Nepal Karate Association and Nepal Rafting and Cannoning Association.
The election was supposed to elect the NOC leadership for the next four years. Incumbent General Secretary Jeevan Ram Shrestha was likely to be elected unopposed as NOC chief.
