Chief Justice Shah retires service from today
Chief Justice Ram Kumar Prasad Shah has retired from his service from Tuesday.
Shah took retirement from the topmost post of the Supreme Court (SC) amid the presence of the Justices and employees of the apex court today.
He had taken oath of office and secrecy as the Chief Justice of SC on October 10, 2014.
Among major works undertaken during his tenure were online update of hearing calendar of case as part of maximum use of information technology, issuance of work schedule of case hearing at 10.00 am, case-related alert circulation to clients through SMS and email, arrangement of filing writ from law firm and efforts to assuage influence of intermediary in judiciary.
SC’s senior most Justice Kalyan Shrestha is taking charge of Chief Justice from July 8.
President Ram Baran Yadav is appointing and administering oath of the office and secrecy to Shrestha as the Chief Justice on Wednesday morning.
The Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee had endorsed Shrestha as Chief Justice after the Constitutional Council recommended his name for the same on last June 29.
