The police have identified the deceased as one Animesh Thakur, an MBBS intern at the hospital.

“Preliminary investigation suggests that, two days ago Thakur and his girlfriend, also an intern here, exchanged some words which got him upset,” said District Police Chief Hari Pal, “He went to his girlfriend’s rented room on Saturday where, it seems, he tripped off the railing and fell down.”

Pal further said that despite efforts to pull Thakur up from the balcony, he couldn’t be saved.

Thakur is the son of Health Ministry Monitoring Department Chief Garib Das Thakur.

Meanwhile, colleagues of the deceased are crying foul over the matter saying that Thakur’s was pushed from the terrace and claimed he was murdered.
