According to preliminary investigation, Thakur fell off a terrace of his girlfriend’s rented room at around 9:45 pm on Saturday.

Thakur is the only son of Health Ministry Monitoring Department Chief Garib Das Thakur. Das’s daughter is a doctor at Teaching Hospital.

“My son’s death is suspicious, justice should be provided through fair investigation,” said bereaved Das, with tears in his eyes, “The guilty should be brought to justice.” He urged the Chief District Officer and district police chief to support him by conducting a fair investigation.

According to police, Thakur had feud with his long term girlfriend, who is also an intern at the hospital. He fell of the terrace of his girlfriend’s rented house.

“Thakur could have fallen while climbing on the railing,” said District Police Chief Hari Pal. “It seems the incident occurred due to mental tensions following a dispute.”
