25 persons killed in earthquake yet to be identified
The identities of as many as 25 people killed in the massive 7.9 magnitude earthquake and the series of aftershocks have not been ascertained.Of the total deceased yet to be identified, 17 bodies have the possibility of their identities being revealed while eight bodies were recovered in a mutilated state, said DIG Bam Bahadur Bhandari.
Among the 17 bodies nearing identification, 13 are male, one of a foreign national, three women and a child. Among the 25 dead bodies yet to be identified, 15 bodies were recovered from Kathmandu, seven from Rasuwa, two from Dolakha and one from Bhaktapur.
The bodies are kept at the TU Teaching Hospital with their photos, finger prints and DNA samples. A body from Rasuwa was identified on Sunday by the deceased person's relatives.
At least 195 persons including 80 foreign nationals are missing, according to a report filed with the police.
The police have uploaded the details of the deceased along with the photos of their clothing on the website to help in the identification of the dead.
Police have so far handed over 8,664 bodies to their relatives of the total of 8,692 killed in the earthquake.
