Baisari landslide causes loss around Rs 42 million
Property worth Rs 42 million was buried on the foothill of Ramche and Bhagawati VDC-2 Baisari in Myagdi district after the Kafaldanda landslide fell upon the Kaligandaki River and blocked itFrom the preliminary report prepared by the District Police Office (DPO), Myagdi, around Rs 42 million worth property including the structures, cash, livestock and others were damaged by the landslide, said Sub-inspector Hira Bahadur Thapa.
As many as 143 people have been displaced from their village and two suspension bridges are completely damaged due to the landslide, stated DPO, Myagdi.
As many as 27 families have turned homeless while many others have landslide risks in the area and the DPO, in coordination with the District Administration Office, has evacuated them, said Sub-inspector Hira Dahal.
The displaced people are planned to be shifted to a nearby village in Piple VDC for their temporary settlement.
Dry landslide displaces 10 families in Pyuthan
Ten families of Syaule of Phople-8 in Pyuthan have been displaced after dry landslide started taking place continuously due the Gorkha Earthquake and its aftershocks.
A local Dilaram Gharti Magar said that they are terrorized as dry landslip along with big stones started falling continuously from the Kalo cliff for the past two days. The settlement is 200 metres below the Kalo cliff.
"Family of Maite Gharti Magar, Madhu Prasad Khadka, Mankali Thapa, Nar Bahadur Khadka, Gopal Thapa, Tukali Gharti Magar, Hom Gharti Magar, Durmati Rana Magar and mine have been displaced due to the dry landslide," he said.
Police Post, Phople, Lisne Youth Group, Syaule and villagers have been working continuously from Wednesday to demolish the cliff after locals are displaced due to this.
Stating that police personnel have been mobilized to prevent the landslide and for onsite visit, Chairman of the District Natural Disaster Rescue and Relief Committee and Chief District officer Ram Bahadur Kurumbang said the Nepalese Army would be deployed this afternoon if the dry landslide continues.
