Nepal Army rescues 39 from Sindhupalchok
Nepal Army has rescued 39 people, including nine young children, from Sindhupalchowk on Thursday.Ekantipur Report
The army has been airlifting people from Tatopani, Batase, Palanse, bringing them to Narayansthan (near Tatopani). From there they are being brought to Kathmandu in a larger chopper. The army is giving preference to women and young children first. The Disaster Assessment and Response Team under Colonel Subash Thapa has been operating around the area, on Nepal Army’s MI 17 chopper.
According to a Kashmira Thapa of Bhanskharka, a town in the district, all 45 households have been destroyed in her area, killing three and injuring a dozen. Thapa who has just finished taking her School Leaving Certificate Exams said, “It’s been five days since the earthquake and it is only today that the team has arrives. We were in dire need of food and shelter. These relief items will help us.”
