17 killed in Everest avalance

Seventeen people were killed and 61 injured in an avalanche triggered by Saturday's destructive earthquake at Mount Everest base camp in Solukhumbu district, officials said.
Security personnel have initiated rescue operation and six helicopters have been dispatched for the same.
Director General of Tourism Department, Tulsi Prasad Sitaula, have confirmed the deaths of 17 people in the avalance and said the death toll could rise. But the weather condition has been gradually improving.
The avalanche swept through a resting point of climbers, guides and porters during the climbing season. Last year 13 people were killed due to an avalance.
