Historical, cultural sites should be protected: Baidya

While releasing a book "Than Bahil Bikramsheel Mahabiharko Aitihasik Kamalpokhari (Part 1)" penned by Bhagvat Narsingh Pradhan in the capital city today, Chairman Baidya urged the political leaders to dissolve the Constituent Assembly (CA) as it could not issue the new constitution assuring the rights of the suppressed communities. He further demanded all-party participated roundtable meeting for the political outlet to the country.
Speaking on a different note, he said that the historical and cultural heritages should not be destroyed in the name of modernity and development.
On the occasion, Nepa Party Chairman Dr Keshab Man Shakya said that historical and archeological heritages should be preserved even to protect the national history.
Historian duo Dr Triratna Manandhar and Prof Dr Tulasi Ram Baidya said the nation should take the responsibility to protect the historical heritages.
It is stated that stakeholders were complaining over the encroachment upon the historical and cultural sites in the Kathmandu Valley.
According to the Tha Bahil Bikramsheel Monastery Society, the newly constructed Chhayadevi Complex has encroached upon the lands (about 12 ropani) of monastery at Thamel Kamal Pokhari.
The Society Chair Pramesh Bahadur Pradhan said that the book has alerted all to protect the historical and cultural heritages. RSS
