Sharma arrested for disorderly conduct in court
Nabin Sharma, the operator of Name Institute for Medical Education, has been arrested again, this time for disordrly conduct at the court & obstruction of investigation into MBBS entrance.
Sharma reportedly used abusive language directed at the CIAA police, including the lead investigator Pashupati Upadhyay, at the Special Court in Babarmahal on Wednesday afternoon when the prime accused in the question leak scandal— Devi Ram Pandey and Prabhat Kumar Kushwaha—were presented to the court for remand extension.
Sharma was caught on video, cursing and jeering at the police. The video was presented to the CIAA chief who then issued the order for Sharma's arrest for obstruction of investigation and disorderly conduct. Sharms was taken into custody from his house on the following night.
“Sharma referred a police DIG a "DOG" and even tried to manhandle police,” said a CIAA source. “We are concerned after seeing his presence at the court and the way he tried to attack police.”
Earlier, Sharma was taken to CIAA custody based on the statements of those individuals who were arrested in the question leak case. He was released on a condition that he cooperate in the investigation.
At least eight operators of various colleges and entrance preparation centers in the Capital are being investigated for their alleged role in the case. The CIAA has arrested seven people, including two students, for investigation.
The CIAA team had recovered Rs 100,000 cash and a cheque for Rs 4.5 million from Kushwaha’s Nakhipot-based residence. According to the preliminary investigation, Kushwaha had raised Rs 1 million each from at least six aspiring medical students for question papers.
A source said that the CIAA’s major priority is to investigate the involvement of officials at the Ministry of Education.
