Bimalendra Nidhi, who has been assigned to welcome the Indian prime minister in the bordering district, called for an all-side meeting on Monday. During the meeting, locals demanded that Modi’s public felicitation and address programme should be held at Barabigha ground.

Indian PM Modi is coming to Nepal for 18th Saarc Summit via road route from Janakpur on November 25. He will be performing Puja at Janaki Temple and address the public of Janakpur.

According to Minister Nidhi, Modi would address the public at Janaki Temple premises.

“We will make preparations for a separate public programme, if arrangements were made for Modi’s address only among few people,” said Broader Janakpur Area Development Council Chairman Ram Kumar Sharma. “The governmental programme might be organised at Janaki Temple but public programme should be held at Barabigha Ground,” he said in an aggressive tone.

Many people from Nepal and India are expected to throng Janakpur to listen to the Modi’s speech. The Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party (TMLP) Lawmaker Bijaya Singh said that if Modi’s programme was to be held at Janaki Temple, the Nepal-India border must be sealed.

Meanwhile, Chanda Chaudhary, President of Nepal–India Women Friendship Society, said that Modi’s programme of distributing cycles to 10,000 students must not be stopped.

After the meeting, Minister Nidhi concluded that Modi’s speech at the Barabigha Ground would be more effective. He assured the people of putting their demand forward to the government.
