UCPN (M) elects 17-member Standing Committee
Major opposition party UCPN (Maoist) elected a 17-member Standing Committee on Monday. The party elected the Standing Committee through an election held at the party headquarters today.

Leader Post Bahadur Bogati garnered maximum 103 votes followed by leader Baburam Bhattai with 99 votes.
However, top leaders including Dina Nath Sharma, Lila Mani Pokhrel, Hisila Yami, Ram Chandra Jha and Urmila Aryal lost in the party Standing Committee election.
The UCPN (Maoist) Standing Committee comprises of majority of members from party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal faction, three from Baburam Bhattarai faction and two members from Narayan Kaji Shrestha faction.
Although, Bhattarai faction had boycotted the polls, seven leaders form the faction were elected as politburo members and three were elected as Standing Committee members.
The elected 17-member Standing Committee will elect 8-member party office bearer today.
