The government has asked the schools to stop the sent-up exams that they are taking by recognizing it as a district-level exam and also declaring the students pass or fail to attend the next SLC examinations. The schools are also charging examinations fee for it.

Ministry of Education Spokesperson Mahashram Sharma, however, said that the school can only take an internal assessment without charging any fee for it, and not stopping students from attending the SLC exams on the basis of it.

All District Education Offices have been notified accordingly through the Department of Education, Sharma said.

However, many schools are holding the exams in violation of such a directive, says Chairperson of Guardians Association of Nepal, Suprabhat Bhandari.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the central fee determination committee held at the Department earlier today concluded that the ongoing sent-up exams in different schools was illegal including the fee charged for it, according to Bhandari.

Bhandari also suggests that either the government must be able to strictly enforce its policy and directives or let the schools run examinations as per their liking. RSS
