The Kathmandu Metropolitan City on Tuesday issued a list of 342 private schools that have not submitted their scholarship list.
The KMC on May 7 had issued a circular to the schools within the metropolis to provide scholarships to the students. The deadline to provide evidence of the same was set for May 29.
There are 520 private schools within the KMC, of whom only 178 have provided the said list so far.
The metropolis has extended the deadline until June 11 and has requested that the educational institutions comply.
The metropolis has also warned of invalidating the license of the schools that fail to act in accordance with the directive.
Private schools within the KMC are obliged by law to provide scholarships to at least 10 percent of the total students every year. Failure to do so can lead to legal actions, and even invalidation of their license, against the institution.
