With 2,309 new cases, Nepal's Covid-19 tally reaches 679,017

Nepal on Saturday reported 2,309 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 679,017.
Similarly, 805 people tested positive in a total of 4,285 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
As of Saturday, 3,528,514 PCR and 286,464 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 10,625 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 16 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.
The countrywide death toll has now reached 9,695. The number of active cases stands at 27,757.
According to the ministry, 639,368 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 2,197 of them in the last 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 615 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 421 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 108 in Lalitpur and 86 in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 399 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 55 in Province 2, 1,006 in Bagmati, 503 in Gandaki, 154 in Lumbini, 118 in Karnali and 73 in Sudurpaschim.
According to the data released by the ministry, 11 districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and 23 other districts host more than 200 active cases each.
On Saturday, 650 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 165—47 in Province 1, 94 in Bagmati, 14 in Gandaki, six in Lumbini and one in Sudurpaschim and three in Karnali—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Friday reported 1,982 new coronavirus cases and 18 new deaths. Similarly, 1,855 new coronavirus cases and 24 new deaths were recorded on Thursday and 1,918 new coronavirus cases and 30 new deaths were reported on Wednesday.
