With 1,237 new cases, Nepal's Covid-19 tally reaches 655,449
The Health Ministry reports 20 new deaths including figures from the past few days based on statistics from the Nepal Army.Post Report
Nepal on Sunday reported 1,237 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 655,449.
Similarly, 594 people tested positive in a total of 3,683 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
As of Sunday, 3,415,475 PCR and 234,777 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 5,535 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 20 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.
The countrywide death toll has now reached 9,382. The number of active cases stands at 26,173.
According to the ministry, 619,894 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 1,533 of them in the last 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 391 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 263 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 97 in Lalitpur and 31 in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 202 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 19 in Province 2, 599 in Bagmati, 208 in Gandaki, 98 in Lumbini, 20 in Karnali and 91 in Sudurpaschim.
According to the data released by the ministry, nine districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and 24 other districts host more than 200 active cases each.
On Sunday, 553 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 175—55 in Province 1, one in Province 2, 96 in Bagmati, 11 in Gandaki, eight in Lumbini and two each in Karnali and Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Saturday reported 1,353 new coronavirus cases and 22 deaths. Similarly, 1,479 new coronavirus cases and 20 deaths were reported on Friday and 1,218 new coronavirus cases and 20 deaths were recorded on Thursday.
