With 1,889 new cases, Nepal's Covid-19 tally reaches 638,805
The Health Ministry reports 41 new deaths including figures from the past few days based on statistics from the Nepal Army.Post Report
Nepal on Wednesday reported 1,889 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 638,805.
Similarly, 1,003 people tested positive in a total of 4,381 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
As of Wednesday, 3,344,133 PCR and 188,811 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 7,187 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 41 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.
The countrywide death toll has now reached 9,112. The number of active cases stands at 33,561.
According to the ministry, 596,132 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 3,597 of them in the last 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 572 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 436 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 89 in Lalitpur and 47 in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 541 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 45 in Province 2, 796 in Bagmati, 320 in Gandaki, 115 in Lumbini, 25 in Karnali and 47 Sudurpaschim.
According to the data released by the ministry, 17 districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and 27 other districts host more than 200 active cases each.
On Wednesday, 626 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 175—37 in Province 1, one in Province 2, 115 in Bagmati, 12 in Gandaki, seven in Lumbini, one in Karnali, and two in Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Tuesday reported 1,728 new coronavirus cases and 20 deaths. Similarly, 1,509 new coronavirus cases and 42 deaths were reported on Monday and 1,353 new cases and 34 Covid-19-related deaths were recorded on Sunday.
