With 1,353 new cases, Nepal's Covid-19 tally reaches 633,679
The Health Ministry reports 34 new deaths including figures from the past few days based on statistics from the Nepal Army.Post Report
Nepal on Sunday reported 1,353 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 633,679.
Similarly, 567 people tested positive in a total of 3,836 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
As of Sunday, 3,323,039 PCR and 174,949 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 6,000 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 34 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.
The countrywide death toll has now reached 9,009. The number of active cases stands at 40,336.
According to the ministry, 584,334 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 3,007 of them in the last 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 424 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 292 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 100 in Lalitpur and 32 in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 337 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 42 in Province 2, 661 in Bagmati, 176 in Gandaki, 68 in Lumbini, 51 in Karnali and 19 Sudurpaschim.
According to the data released by the ministry, 24 districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and 29 other districts host more than 200 active cases each.
On Sunday, 706 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 200—31 in Province 1, one in Province 2, 137 in Bagmati, 15 in Gandaki, 10 in Lumbini, two in Karnali, and four in Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Saturday reported 1,174 new cases and 30 Covid-19-related deaths. Similarly, 1,721 new coronavirus cases and 27 deaths were reported on Friday and 1,574 new coronavirus cases and 24 deaths were recorded on Thursday.
