With 3,024 new cases, Nepal's Covid-19 tally reaches 588,124
The Health Ministry reports 99 new deaths including figures from the past few days based on statistics from the Nepal Army.Post Report
Nepal on Sunday reported 3,024 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 588,124.
Similarly, 455 people tested positive in a total of 3,262 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
As of Sunday, 3,143,062 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 10,471 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 99 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.
The countrywide death toll has now reached 7,898. The number of active cases stands at 89,217.
According to the ministry, 491,009 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 6,636 of them in the last 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 1,131 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 731 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 254 in Lalitpur and 146 in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 431 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 281 in Province 2, 1,640 in Bagmati, 154 in Gandaki, 319 in Lumbini, 110 in Karnali and 89 in Sudurpaschim.
According to the data released by the ministry, 46 districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and other 14 districts host more than 200 active cases each.
On Sunday, 1,442 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 381—45 in Province 1, 21 in Province 2, 258 in Bagmati, 28 in Gandaki, 17 in Lumbini, five in Karnali and seven in Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Saturday reported 3,540 new coronavirus cases and 68 fatalities. Similarly, 4,624 new cases and 101 Covid-19 related deaths were reported on Friday and 5,825 new cases and 75 Covid-19 related deaths were reported on Thursday.
