Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 2,055 with one more death; national tally reaches 272,840 with 122 new infections

Nepal on Monday reported one more Covid-19 related fatality, pushing the death toll to 2,055. The country also recorded 122 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 272,840 with 1,581 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 269,204 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; of them 144 in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 73 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 60 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 10 in Lalitpur and three in Bhaktapur.
As of Monday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 127,605. While Kathmandu has reported 502 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 163 and 115 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 1,006 individuals from Bagmati Province, 292 from Lumbini Province, 230 from Province 1, 220 from Province 2, 213 from Gandaki Province, 67 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 27 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Monday, 2,120,591 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 3,541 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, 92 new infections were recorded in Bagmati Province, 22 in Gandaki Province, four in Lumbini Province, two in Province 1, and one each in Province 2 and Sudurpaschim Province.
While Kathmandu has more than 500 active cases, Bhojpur, Solukhumbu, Mustang, Rukum (West), Mugu and Achham districts do not have any active cases, according to the ministry.
Until Monday, 59 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country, 17 others—11 in Bagmati, four in Lumbini and two in Gandaki—were on ventilator support.
Nepal had reported 104 new Covid-19 infections on Sunday and 57 on Saturday. The country had recorded two covid-19 related deaths and 127 new cases on Friday.
