Nepal reports one more Covid-19-related death and 246 new cases

Nepal on Sunday reported one more Covid-19-related death, taking the toll to 57.
According to the Health Ministry, a 68-year-old woman of Birgunj Metropolitan City in Parsa district, whose samples tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday, succumbed to the disease on Saturday.
She was admitted to the intensive care ward of the Birgunj-based Narayani Vayodha Hospital on July 29 after showing symptoms of fever, cough and difficulty in breathing, said Dr Jageshwor Gautam, the Health Ministry spokesperson, during a press briefing. “As the woman’s health condition worsened, she was referred to Narayani Covid Hospital on August 1 but she breathed her last on the way to the hospital.”
The deceased was a diabetic and had complications related to blood pressure.
Of the 8,861 swab samples tested across the country in the past 24 hours, 246 came back positive for the coronavirus, the ministry said.
Samples of 81 individuals from Parsa, 35 from Dhanusha, 22 from Kathmandu, 16 from Morang, 12 each from Sunsari and Doti; 10 each from Kailali and Bardiya; eight each from Syangja and Lalitpur; five each from Mahottari and Kaski; three each from Lamjung, Nawalparasi (East); two each from Sarlahi, Bajhang, Gorkha, Rautahat and Tanahun; and one each from Chitwan, Darchula, Sindhuli, Bhaktapur, Baglung and Rupandehi tested positive for the coronavirus, said Gautam.
Nepal on Saturday reported 315 new coronavirus cases. While four Covid-19 related deaths and 224 new cases were confirmed on Friday, three deaths and 274 new cases were reported on Thursday. On Wednesday, 210 new cases were found. One Covid-19 related death and 311 new coronavirus infections were recorded on Tuesday. The ministry had registered three deaths and 139 cases on Monday.
So far, 14,603 individuals have made successful recoveries after being diagnosed with Covid-19. Dr Gautam said 111 patients were discharged in the past 24 hours. The country has so far reported 57 deaths from Covid-19-related conditions.
As many as 391,270 PCR tests have been performed in the country so far. Five districts—Bhojpur, Sankhuwasabha, Rasuwa, Manang and Mustang—don’t have any active cases, Gautam said.
