An assistant head constable died in a road accident in Chitwan on Tuesday.

The deceased is 33-year-old Ramesh Rana, who was working at the Dharapani temporary police post in Gorkha district.

Rana, who was on leave, was on his way from Butwal to Kathmandu on a motorcycle on Tuesday, when the motorcycle he was riding crashed at Bharatpur metropolis-29 along the Narayanghat-Mugling road section.

Assistant Head Constable Rana and pillion rider Bikash Kumar, were injured when the motorcycle fell into a pit near an under-construction bridge.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Ramesh Kumar Shrestha of Gorkha District Police Office said Rana succumbed to injuries at the Chitwan-based Old Medical College on Tuesday night. Kumar is being treated at the same medical college.

The deceased was a permanent resident of Kanchan Rural Municipality-4 of Rupandehi.
