Australian batting star David Warner has arrived in Nepal to play in the Nepal Premier League for Kathmandu Gorkhas.
Officials of the franchise welcomed the former Australian opener at Tribhuvan International Airport. Warner is expected to feature against Karnali Yaks on Monday in the first match of the day, which starts at 12:30pm.
Kathmandu Gorkhas have already lost their opening match of the season, going down by eight wickets to Janakpur Bolts.
Warner is the biggest overseas name to feature in the NPL so far. He was a key member of the Australian teams that won the 2015 and 2023 One-Day International World Cups and the 2021 T20 World Cup.
He was named Player of the Tournament at the 2021 T20 World Cup. He was also part of Australia's World Test Championship-winning side in 2021-23.
Warner played 112 Tests, 161 ODIs and 110 T20 Internationals for Australia, scoring nearly 19,000 international runs, including 49 centuries. He scored 3,277 runs in T20 Internationals at a strike rate of 142.48. His tally includes 8,786 runs in Tests and 6,932 in ODIs.

Warner last represented Australia at the 2024 T20 World Cup, held in the United States and the West Indies. In 2019, he scored an unbeaten 335 against Pakistan in Adelaide, the second-highest individual score by an Australian in Test cricket.
The 40-year-old established himself as one of the world's leading opening batters. He has played 439 matches across all forms of T20 cricket, scoring more than 14,000 runs at a strike rate above 140.
Warner made his IPL debut with Delhi Daredevils in 2009 and remained with the franchise until 2013. He joined Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2014 and was appointed captain the following year. In 2016, he led the franchise to its maiden IPL title.
He scored more than 500 runs in seven IPL seasons and finished as the tournament's leading run-scorer in 2015, 2017 and 2019. Warner continued with Sunrisers Hyderabad until 2021 before Delhi Capitals signed him again in 2022.
