Nepal to face UAE in first warm-up match in Chennai today
The national team will play against the UAE and Canada in practice games as build-up to ICC T20 World Cup in India.Post Report
The Nepali national cricket team, currently in India for the ICC Twenty20 World Cup, will play their first warm-up match on Tuesday.
The team, which had been training in Mumbai, has travelled to Chennai for the practice fixtures. Nepal will play two warm-up matches in Chennai against the United Arab Emirates and Canada.
In their first warm-up match, Nepal will face the UAE on Tuesday. The match will kick off at the MA Chidambaram Stadium from 5:15pm NST.
Nepal will play their second warm-up match against Canada on Thursday. Both matches will be held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, the venue for World Cup matches, which the Cricket Association of Nepal said would help the team adapt to the pitch and conditions.
Nepal will begin their World Cup campaign against England on February 8. Nepal are placed in Group C alongside West Indies, England, Scotland and Italy.
Nepal are scheduled to play against Italy on February 12, the West Indies on February 15 and Scotland on February 17. All of Nepal’s group-stage matches will be played in Mumbai.
Nepal had previously featured in the World Cup in 2014 and 2024.
The Nepali squad includes captain Rohit Paudel, vice-captain Dipendra Singh Airee, Sompal Kami, Karan KC, Nandan Yadav, Sandeep Lamichhane, Kushal Bhurtel, Aasif Sheikh, Sandeep Jora, Aarif Sheikh, Basir Ahmad, Gulshan Jha, Lalit Rajbanshi, Sher Malla and Lokesh Bam.
