The Pokhara Avengers clinched a dramatic victory in a super over against the Biratnagar Kings in their Nepal Premier League (NPL) clash on Thursday, effectively knocking Biratnagar out of playoff contention.

Pokhara’s bowlers impressed, with Sagar Dhakal and Raymon Reifer claiming two wickets each, while Dinesh Kharel and Kushal Bhurtel picked up one apiece.
Chasing 140, the Avengers matched the target, scoring 139/6 in 20 overs. Andries Gous anchored the innings with 39 runs, while Kushal Bhurtel (31) and Raymon Reifer (34) chipped in with valuable contributions. Pratish GC was Biratnagar’s standout bowler, taking four wickets.
The tie led to a thrilling super over. Batting first, Pokhara set a target of 19 runs, thanks to Reifer’s power-hitting against Biratnagar captain Sandeep Lamichhane. Reifer smashed two sixes and a four in the first four balls of the over.
In reply, Biratnagar managed just five runs in the super over, failing to hit any boundaries against Reifer’s disciplined bowling. Martin Guptill and Nicholas Kirton struggled to find the gaps, sealing the victory for Pokhara.
With this win, Pokhara continues its playoff push, while Biratnagar joins Lumbini Lions as the second team eliminated from playoff contention.
