Cricket Players’ Association of Nepal (CPAN) is set to organise the CPAN Cricket Awards 2022 on September 9 in Kathmandu.
The second edition of the event will honour cricket players in five categories on the basis of their performance in 2021 and 2022, Paras Khadka, CPAN general secretary and former national cricket team captain, said at a press conference on Thursday.
The first edition of the annual award was held in 2019, but could not take place after that due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In the following year, the CPAN had donated Rs462,000 to Covid-19 Prevention, Treatment and Control Fund set up by the Government of Nepal.
CPAN will honour the best-performing male and female player each, and a rising player will be rewarded with the emerging cricketer of the year award. The CPAN will also provide a special award and moment of the year award.
Special award will be given to players who have made special contributions to the game while moment of the year award will be given in recognition of one special moment of the game to an individual or a team at national and international level.
“There will be five nominations each in the male, female and emerging cricketer of the year award,” said Khadka. “They will be picked by a five-member technical committee. There will be five to 10 nominations for moment of the year award and the winners will be decided through online voting.”
The winner of the moment of the year will be given Rs66,000 while the winners of all other categories will be given Rs132,000. CPAN’s electoral congress will be held a day after the award ceremony.
National College of Computer Studies (NCCS) is the sponsor of the event and they will cover all the expenses of the event including prize money.
