The defeat means the Falcons ended their campaign sans a win. The two teams had lost all their three matches before they met in Monday's dead rubber at the Tribhuvan University cricket ground in Kirtipur.
Earlier, Falcons had won the toss and decided to bat first. However, they lost two quick wickets inside the second over with the team total standing at only eight runs. Openers Gita Gosai and Roshani Bohora both returned to the pavilion having scored just a run each before Mamta Chaudhary provided some respite with her half-century.
In reply, chasing the 123-run target, Paltan made a shaky start losing both openers, Rewati Dhami and Sita Rana Magar, for one each. Paltan were staring at their fourth loss after Ruby Poddar was caught and bowled by Chaudhary to leave them struggling at 5-3. Then came an unlikely record stand between Rawal and Kunwar which started the recovery and ultimately saw them reach the target in the 18th over. Chaudhary and skipper Thapa had two wickets to their name.
