Namaste Nepal Foundation and Texture Studio along with a Chinese band ‘Wang Wen’ is all set to organise a charity show at Purple Haze in Thamel, Kathmandu on April 23.
The concert is being organised to mark the first anniversary of the devastating earthquake that shook the country on April 25 last year and to raise fund for the quake survivors.
A post rock genre music written and executed by Wang Wen was used in a short documentary “we shall rise again” that was dedicated to people who were directly or indirectly affected by the quake.
“We needed music for better resolution of the documentary. While surfing around internet we found Wang Wen’s song. We contacted this group for their consent and used their music for our documentary,” said Alok Lamsal, one of the organisers of the event.
According to Lamsal, the band even translated the poetry in Chinese. “Later on the band approached us and offered a stunning initiative to come to Nepal for a charity show,” said Lamsal.
According to the organisers, Wang Wen will also visit orphanage Maatri Baal Griha at Jeetpur, Fedi in Kathmandu and hold a musical recreation programme there. The orphanage houses children who survived the quake.
