Radio Kantipur to honour musicians
Radio Kantipur will be hosting the BQ 16 Music Honours on December 5.
Winners will be declared in 10 different categories, which include best singer and songwriter, lifetime achievement award and best radio journalist, among others. The best singer and songwriter will be selected on the basis of the number of requests received by a song in the year 2014; the lifetime achievement award will go to a person who has contributed immensely to Nepali music; and the best radio journalist award will go to one of the most popular radio jockeys at Radio Kantipur. Further, Radio Kantipur will select and bring in 16 regular listeners and callers from all over the country to attend the event.
While Radio Kantipur is the largest commercial radio station in Nepal and is also the first private radio station in the country to pay royalty to the musicians, BQ mobile, which made its foray into the burgeoning Nepali mobile-phone market just seven months back, has established itself as a popular choice of the Nepali middle-class. The cell phone, whose initials stand for ‘Best Quality’, is produced in Beijing and is sold in India and countries in Africa as well. The company produces affordable smart-phones with more than decent specs and other cell phones and tablets.
Leading singers like Sugam Pokhrel, Dharmendra Sewan and Deepak Bajracharya will perform for the audience during the show, which will be broadcasted live on Kantipur Television.
