The ‘Deities of Nepal II’ exhibition will open at the Nepal Art Council from May 21 to June 10, 2024. Organised in cooperation with the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, the event will feature approximately 220 artworks from 162 artists.
The exhibition aims to reveal Nepal’s living, intangible culture through various deities and their shared beliefs. The exhibition will include a range of artworks, from sculptures and paintings to art installations.
‘Deities of Nepal II’ also seeks to acquaint visitors with Nepal's rich cultural and artistic legacy, emphasising the importance of preserving its heritage. It will present the transition of portraying cultural heritage in current trends, showcasing greater diversity in aesthetic values and artistic freedom.
This follows the success of the first ‘Deities of Nepal’ exhibition, held from November to December 2022. The first iteration was widely acclaimed and even praised by James Giambrioni, founder of Indigo Gallery in Kathmandu, as “one of the best exhibitions I have seen in Nepal in the last fifty years.”
