Thousands of teachers gathered from across the country have continued their Kathmandu-centric protest for the eighth day on Wednesday, demanding the immediate enactment of the School Education Act.

They marched from Maitighar Mandala to New Baneshwar, chanting slogans with their demands.

The protest was organised by the Nepal Teachers’ Federation, the umbrella body of school teachers, which has also declared an educational strike from Monday. The federation has instructed teachers nationwide to shut down schools and suspend all duties, including preparing examination results.

The striking teachers have turned down the government’s call for talks.

Here are some photos of Wednesday’s protest taken by the Post’s photojournalist Angad Dhakal.
