Bijulikali, a 25-year-old elephant, captivated spectators and judges alike by her beauty to win the elephant beauty pageant on the second day of the 18th Elephant and Tourism Festival in Sauraha, Chitwan on Friday.
Held at the Bagmara Buffer Zone Community Forest ground, the contest evaluated elephants on adornment, obedience, gait, and health criteria. Bijulikali’s graceful demeanour and disciplined performance secured her the coveted title.
The festival, celebrating wildlife and tourism, continues until December 30. The regional Hotel Association of Nepal (HAN) Sauraha initiated the festival in 2005 to mark Christmas and the English New Year.
