With Chhath festival approaching on November 7, people are busy cleaning and preparing the premises at Gaurighat and Kamalpokhari for the celebrations.
The Chhath Puja, marked as the birth anniversary of Surya, the Sun god, draws thousands of devotees who worship the Sun and take ritual baths in nearby rivers and ponds.
Chhath is a four-day-long festival starting formally on the fourth day of the new moon until the sunrise on the seventh day. The festival is dedicated to the sun God with offerings made to the rising and setting sun.
