On the occasion of Constitution Day, the government has officially opened the Dharahara to the public nine years after destruction of the previous one by earthquakes in April 2015.
The new Dharahara has been temporarily opened to visitors as per the decision of a Cabinet meeting held on last Thursday.
“People can now visit Dharahara from 10.30 am to 4.30 pm every day. Booking can be made by visiting the website dharahara.gov.np,” said Koshnath Adhikari, deputy director general of the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction.
He said that the bookings on the website have not been opened for the time being due to some technical problems.
The newly reconstructed Dharahara spans an area of 42.2 ropanis of land and features 22 storeys. It includes a garden, a historical water spout, a museum, and a fountain with a three-storey underground parking facility.
Here are some of the photos of the public visiting the premises of the newly reconstructed Dharahara, captured by the Post’s photojournalist Deepak KC.
