Nepal is observing Constitution Day.

On Sunday, President Bidya Bhandari, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, ministers and other dignitaries attended a special programme organised at Tundikhel to observe the Constitution Day.

Nepal’s Constitution Assembly six years ago adopted a new constitution after deliberating for seven years.

The constitution, however, has been contested by some sections of the society, and calls have grown for amendments to ensure its wider acceptance.
