With the local level election slated for May 14 approaching nearer, recruitment process to hire Myadi (temporary) police personnel has begun across the country.
Around 45,000 people will be trained on various aspects of election security in their respective districts.
Nepal Police spokesperson DIG Nawaraj Silwal said the training will incorporate physical fitness, basic security lessons, skills to deal with public, risk mitigation and election code. Each Myadi policeperson will be armed with a cane.
The police headquarters on September 17 called for applications for temporary police jobs.
According to the police headquarters, 2,518 temporary personnel will be deployed in Mechi zone, 3,578 in Koshi, 3,967 in Sagarmatha, 5,438 in Janakpur, 4,902 in Narayani, 2,392 in Bagmati and 3,035 in Gandaki.
Similarly, 4,784 will be deployed in Lumbini, 960 in Dhaulagiri, 2,899 in Rapti, 2,727 in Bheri, 1,092 in Karnali, 2,518 in Seti and 1,629 in Mahakali. In Kathmandu Valley, their strength will be 2,561.
Their tenure will be of two months, until the November 19 polls are over. They will be paid a package of Rs 24,500.
Additional daily and ration allowances will be provided as per the Nepal Police rule.
