Federation of Contractors' Association of Nepal (FCAN) President Sharad Kumar Gauchan, who was shot dead in broad daylight in the capital on October 9, has been declared martyr on Friday.

A Cabinet meeting held today decided to declare Gauchan martyr as per the agreement forged with Gauchan’s family and FCAN office bearers.

The family performed Gauchan’s last rites on Thursday following assurance from government to declare him martyr.

Meanwhile, the government is yet to identify and arrest the perpetrators behind the murder.

The police have sketched a facial composites of the three persons suspected to be responsible behind the murder.

Gauchan was shot dead in broad daylight at Shantinagar in the Capital on Monday. The incident site is just a stone’s throw away from his residence.
