After the explosion, police chased away the assailant up to Padmodaya road. The motive behind the attack seems to be foiling the FSU elections.

PJ Club condemns attack targeting journos
Photo Journalists (PJ) Club has condemned the attack carried out by anti-election students targeting journalists during FSU elections at RR Campus.
In a press statement, PJ Club said the attack on journalists after circulations of photos in the media depicting clashes between anti-election students and security personnel was an attempt to stymie people's right to information.
Meanwhile, the FSU election is taking place inside the campus despite sporadic confrontation between the students and police.
Students affiliated to All Nepal National Independent Students Union (Revolutionary), Naya Shakti Nepal, Sanghiya Samajwadi Forum Nepal have boycotted the elections.
Around 400 security personnel from Nepal Police and Armed Police Force have been deployed outside the campus premises.
