CPN-UML Kathmandu district committee marked the first year of constitution promulgation amidst a programme organised by the party in Basantapur, Kathmandu on Monday.
UML leaders Pradeep Gyawali, Bamdev Gautam, Yogesh Bhattrai, among others, were present in the event. UML Chairman and former prime minister KP Sharma Oli was the chief guest.
Thousands of people gathered holding national flag. Various cultural performances were also performed during the event.
UML senior leader Bamdev Gautam opined that the present constitution has provided equal right to every citizen thus every Nepali must fight to save this constitution. He also added that the present constitution is an answer to those who tried to obstruct constitution promulgation.
Chairman Oli reiterated that the present constitution of Nepal is the world’s finest constitution because it was prepared with 90 percent majority of lawmakers. The constitution has ensured equal justice to the Madhesi and Janajatis, he said.
