Foreign Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat met his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj at New Delhi on Monday.

Mahat, who is in New Delhi to prepare ground for the first foreign visit of PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal after assuming PM’s post, took part in the reception hosted by Swaraj in Delhi. Issues related to Dahal’s visit and other various areas of cooperation were discussed during the meeting.

Earlier, Mahat had met Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Nationalist Congress Party general secretary DP Tripathi, Janata Dal (United) secretary KC Tyagi, Vijay Pratap of Socialist Font, among other leaders.

Mahat will also meet Indian Minister of State for Power Piyush Goyal and Water Resource Minister Uma Bharti later on today. Sources said Mahat will discuss about implementation of Pancheswor Project, solution to Nepal’s energy crisis and other energy-related issues with Minister Goyal. Mahat will also meet Indian Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari to discuss construction of Postal Road.

Minister Mahat will also take part in a dinner reception by BJP later this evening.

He will return home on Tuesday.

Prime Minister Prachanda is scheduled to begin his four-day state visit to India from September 15 at the invitation of his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi.
