Opposition alliance pickets Kathmandu DAO
The UCPN (Maoist)-led 30-party alliance picketed the Kathmandu District Administration Office (DAO) on Monday demanding promulgation of the new constitution in the spirit of consensus.
The opposition alliance picketed the DAO based in Babarmahal under the second phase of the agitation waged by the alliance. On the occasion, UCPN (Maoist) leader Jhakku Prasad Subedi shared that the move was taken to mount pressure for the promulgation of an all-inclusive constitution in line with the past pacts and understandings.
The alliance has accused the government of being indifferent to check growing spate of violence against women, heed the genuine demands of Prof Dr Govinda KC staging fast-unto-death for the past nine days demanding reforms in medical sector and address the issues concerning day-to-day livelihood of the general public.
The agitators besieged the administration office from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm today. The second phase of their agitation had begun with a stick rally on Sunday.
