3 held with stolen gun

PSO Deepak Raj Kunwar had lost his gun somewhere between Gopi Krishna Hall, Chabahil and Maharjung while travelling in a microbus after completing his duty on March 21.

Anup Lama, 29, of Kavre, Sunil Thapa, 22, of Jorpati and Subash Lama, 26, of Gokarna were arrested along with the lost pistol. Police also confiscated six rounds of bullet and 6.5 grams of brown heroine from the trio.
Police said the three stole the gun after cutting the gun’s holster with a razor. Kunwar did not feel anything at the time as the vehicle was congested .
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bijayalal Kayastha at the Crime Division said the gun, however, was not misused. A statement presented by the thieves said they were waiting for media reports on the lost gun before coming forward with it and had it been owned by police they would have immediately returned it.
