Minas Thapa struck a scintillating century to steer Province 1 to the semi-finals of the MM Cup National One Day national cricket tournament with a 226-run hammering of Province 4 on Sunday.

Batting first, Province 1 posted a mammoth 292 in 50 overs on the board with Thapa scoring a brilliant 108, his 110-ball knock included 16 fours and two sixes. Thapa and Niraj Mukhiya laid the foundation of the big total with 156-run first wicket stand. Mukhiya contributed 41 runs. Kishor Mahato claimed three while Amrit Gurung, Bipin Khatri and Santosh Neupane snared two wickets apiece for Province 4.

In reply, Province 4 were bowled out for 66 in 15.1 overs. Siddhanta Lohani and Manoj Mandal claimed three wickets each while Dipesh Kandel grabbed two wickets for Province 1, who now take on Tribhuvan  Army Club.
