Province 3 defeated Karnali Province by six wickets in a dead rubber to bid farewell from the Manmohan Memorial Cup One Day National cricket tournament on Thursday.
In a match between two already-eliminated teams, Province 3 bundled out Karnali for just 111 runs in 29.2 overs after a fifer from young spinner Surya Tamang. Province 3 then reached the total in just 26.1 overs. The victory, however, was only a solace for Province 3 who had already made exit from the tournament after Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) won both their group matches.
Only the top finisher from the three-team pool make it to the semi-finals of the tournament. Title contenders TAC had thumped Province 3 by 118 runs before hammering Karnali by 249 runs in their second game on Wednesday.
Thursday belonged to young left arm spinner Tamang who picked up 5-22 from 9.2 overs with two maiden ripping through Karnali batting order. Skipper Rabindra Jung Shahi top scored for Karnali with 39 runs. Aadil Khan was the leading contributor for Province 3 with 26 runs. Ishan Pandey and Ashutosh Ghiraiya made 20 runs each.
